Self-Assessment Tool for Businesses

Self-Assessment Tool for Businesses

The Self-Assessment Tool is a checklist which enables you to get a sense of how your business currently performs in relation to the Geopark Code of Practice for Sustainable Tourism.  There are 60 statements relating to a total of 60 measures (or actions) required by the Code.

  • Tick ‘Yes’ if the statement is true for your business.
  • Tick ‘No’ if the statement is not true for your business.
  • Tick ‘Not Applicable’ if the statement is not relevant for your business type.

There are a number of Essential Measures which are marked with an asterisk *.  These are measures that must  be taken by any businesses who wishes to engage with the Code.  Our hope is that by completing the checklist, you get a good sense of how you currently ‘perform’ in relation to the Code.  You will also get a good understanding of what you would have to do to adopt this Code.

You can also download the complete ‘To Do’ List for the Code here.

Note: As we believe in a collective approach to sustainable destination development, we partner with the Burren Ecotourism Network whose members adopt and implement the Code.  If you are not already a member, you will not currently be implementing some of these measures.  To enquire about membership, email
