The best way to explore the Geopark is to take the time to sensitively wander – by foot or on a bicycle. Get up close to nature. Immerse yourself in rich heritage. Discover the local culture.

Taking care as you go brings huge rewards. By leaving the lightest possible mark on our landscape, the beautiful Burren will leave the most memorable mark on you.

The Burren National Park

The Burren national Park is a gem at the heart of the Burren. While it falls within the area of the Geopark it is state-owned and managed by the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) on behalf of the people of Ireland. The Burren National Park operate an Information point in the nearby village of Corofin. A free bus shuttle service runs from the Information Point in Corofin to the trailhead at Gortlecka Cross, in the Burren National Park, daily from May to August every 30 minutes from 9.30am to 5pm. Due to lack of on-site parking, we strongly encourage visitors and locals to use this shuttle bus to visit the Burren National Park during the summer. Geosites and Discovery Points

There’s nowhere in the world quite like the Burren. And there are so many unique places nestled within the area. There are eleven Geosites you can visit – areas of outstanding geological significance – each with its own on-site visitor and interpretation information.

The Burren Geopark is also home to 7 Wild Atlantic Way Discovery Points, the Cliffs of Moher also being a Wild Atlantic Way Signature Point.
